Keynote: Regulation, Consumer Duty and the Cost of Compliance: Have We Hit Diminishing Returns?
Firms are juggling UK Consumer Duty, EU fragmentation and international regulatory layers, nowhere more acutely than in retail life and pensions, where value assessments and vulnerable customer duties carry real bite. Much of the cost isn't the regulation itself but systems incapable of producing the data and evidencing regulators now expect. This session explores whether regulation is genuinely improving outcomes or simply adding friction, and how leaders are pragmatically designing for compliance; technically as well as procedurally.
