What I’m Looking Forward to at ITC London 2027 (Beyond the Main Stage)

What I’m Looking Forward to at ITC London 2027 (Beyond the Main Stage)

Every conference has its headline sessions, and ITC London 2027 will have plenty under the banner of Defining Insurance’s North Star. But when I think about what makes ITC London stand out, I think about what happens around the keynotes just as much: the breakfasts, the pitches, the roundtables and, new for this year, the pub quiz. Here’s what’s on my list for 25-26 January 2027.

Starting the day with coffee and conversation

The Meetup series launched in 2025 and was popular enough that bringing it back was an easy decision. Our attendees really enjoy the format because it asks for conversation instead of slides.

On Day One (25th of January) is the Women in Insurance Breakfast, a chance to connect over coffee before the agenda begins and discuss challenges uniquely faced by women in insurance. Day Two (26th of January) opens with the London Market Breakfast Meetup, for anyone working in and around the Lloyd’s Market: underwriters, brokers, MGAs and capacity providers. In a market built on relationships, an hour at that table before the day starts is a natural choice and a great investment.

The Challenge Lab: my must-see

If I had to pick one thing, it’s the Challenge Lab. It debuted at ITC London 2026, sponsored by Generali, to an exceptional response, and returned at ITC Europe 2026, and now it’s back for London 2027.

The premise is simple. Startups answer a challenge statement, the ITC team picks the finalists based on innovation, impact and fit with the challenge, and they pitch live on stage to industry leaders. The winner gets a trophy, industry recognition and PR, and a speaking slot at a future ITC London.

Last year’s winner, Senen, took on claims intelligence, turning fragmented FNOL data, documents and market communications into earlier triage and more accurate reserving. I’m curious what next year’s finalists will bring.

Next year’s challenge is yet to be revealed, but keep an eye out for the announcement.

Roundtables and workshops

Roundtables are where many attendees can expect to learn the most. They’re informal, hands-on, interactive, and built around the most pressing challenges leaders are facing right now. You benchmark your strategy against peers and hear what has and hasn’t worked at other organisations. The best ones send you home with frameworks you can use the following week and allow you to forge new connections with industry leaders grappling with similar challenges to your own.

The Startup Zone and Spotlight

Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the heart of our events – the insurtech startups. The Startup Zone is where insurtechs using AI, IoT and data analytics show what they’ve built, and it’s often where you spot the idea that will be everywhere in two years. On Day Two, founders will take place in our Startup Spotlight on the main stage to pitch their vision to the whole audience and compete for the Spotlight Award.

Ending Day Two at the pub (sort of)

Finally, The Great British Insurance Pub Quiz. At the end of Day Two (26 January), the Brewery turns into a quiz venue. Put your insurance knowledge to the test, build a team, and finish two days of serious conversation with a bit of friendly competition. Some of the best industry connections start with an argument over a quiz answer.

See you in January!

The main agenda will be sharp, but the side events are where people come together, and I can’t wait.

Applications to attend ITC London 2027 are open.
